Come join us for the opening reception for the 2010 Julia Dean Alternative Photography Exhibition! The show is an annual competition and one of my submissions took the first-place award. I’ve got three pieces in the show, and would love for you to join us at the opening. There’s always a tremendous variety of work, and it’s a great opportunity to meet the artists.
Opening Reception
6-9 PM, Friday August 13th, 2010
801 Ocean Front Walk, Studio 8
Venice CA 90291
From their site:
The annual competition and exhibit, now in its seventh year, is one of our favorites at Julia Dean’s. A wide variety of capture processes are represented, using anything from pinhole and toy cameras to new digital capture techniques. Alternative prints processes may include cyanotypes, platinum & palladium, Polaroid transfers & emulsion lifts, gum prints, collodion wet plate process, and the use of liquid light. Almost anything goes, though the judges reserve the right to decide what alternative means.
This year’s judges were Ann Elliott Cutting and Kathleen McLaughlin.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! All winners will take part in an exhibition at the Julia Dean Gallery with opening reception on Friday, August 13th, 2010, from 6-9pm.

Last week Brad participated in a lively discussion about headshot photography at LA’s TVI Actors Studio. Several of the points that were brought up were how to prepare for your shoot, working with your photographer, how to get the most authentic photos of yourself, how to follow up to get the best results after the shoot (processing, retouching, reproductions, online casting). Brad is always happy to share what he knows, and has participated on several panels and interviews over the years, including at AIA and AMDA, and in Back Stage and LA Casting.

Along with his commercial work, Brad also creates a variety of fine art photography, which has appeared in a number of solo and group
exhibitions. This week is his first time participating in the monthly
Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk (2nd Thursday of each month).
This is a terrific event featuring the downtown galleries, restaurants
and bars, and always draws a good crowd … not to mention a large
variety of food trucks. It should be another beautiful Spring evening
so come out and take a stroll.
